How to share a local HTML file

Local HTML files often work on your machine but break when sent as attachments. Images, CSS, JavaScript, and relative links can fail for reviewers. Publishing a preview link avoids that handoff problem.

Steps

1

Find the real project boundary

If the page uses external asset files, include the whole folder instead of sending only the HTML file.

2

Zip the folder when needed

Create a ZIP that includes index.html and any supporting assets. Keep relative paths unchanged.

3

Publish and share the URL

Upload the HTML or ZIP to HTMLShare, open the preview, and send the resulting URL to reviewers.

Practical tips

  • Do not email a folder of files when one preview URL will do.
  • Use index.html as the entry page for ZIP projects.
  • Avoid absolute local paths like /Users/name/Desktop in HTML.
  • Test the published link in a fresh browser tab.

Turn the HTML into a link

HTMLShare publishes static HTML files and ZIP projects as browser preview links, so reviewers can open the page without downloading files or running a local server.
