Troubleshooting

ChatGPT Sites Not Available

If ChatGPT Sites is not showing up in your account, there are several known reasons — plan tier, region, gradual rollout, and workspace permissions. This page explains each one and what you can do if you already have website files ready to publish.

Is ChatGPT Sites Open to the Public?

ChatGPT Sites is a real feature announced and being actively rolled out by OpenAI — but it is not yet available to all users. As of the current rollout stage, access is limited to a subset of paid accounts in specific regions. OpenAI has not announced a general availability date.

If the ChatGPT Sites option does not appear in your account, it does not necessarily indicate a technical error. It most likely means your account has not been included in the current rollout wave. The sections below cover the specific access conditions to check.

Why ChatGPT Sites May Not Be Available

Four conditions control access to the feature.

Plan requirement

ChatGPT Sites is currently part of a limited beta that requires a paid ChatGPT plan — typically Plus, Team, or Enterprise. The Free plan does not include access at this stage. If you are on a free account, upgrading your plan may unlock the feature once it becomes available to your tier.

Region availability

ChatGPT Sites is not available in all countries. OpenAI is expanding access progressively, and region-based restrictions apply independently of your subscription tier. Even with a paid plan, the feature may not appear if your account is registered in a region where the rollout has not yet reached.

Gradual rollout

New ChatGPT features are often released in waves rather than all at once. ChatGPT Sites is in active beta, which means OpenAI is expanding access incrementally. Users on the same plan in the same region may have different access depending on when their account was selected for the rollout.

Workspace administrator settings

On ChatGPT Team and Enterprise plans, workspace administrators control which features members can access. If you are part of a managed workspace and cannot see ChatGPT Sites, the feature may be disabled at the organisation level. Contact your IT or admin team to check the workspace settings.

Publishing Existing Website Files While You Wait

If you already have a website built — HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and image files generated by ChatGPT or any other AI tool — you can publish and share it now without waiting for ChatGPT Sites access.

Important limitation: Host HTML File publishes static files only. It is suitable for websites made of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and images. It does not support dynamic application features, authentication systems, server-side rendering, databases, or the integrated site management capabilities that ChatGPT Sites may offer. If your project requires those features, Host HTML File is not a full substitute for ChatGPT Sites.

For a standard static website — a landing page, a portfolio, a product concept page, or an HTML prototype — the process is straightforward:

01

Collect the generated files

Copy the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code blocks from ChatGPT into files with the correct names. Make sure index.html is the entry point and all asset references use relative paths.

02

Package into a ZIP archive

Put all the files into a folder with index.html at the root. Compress the folder contents into a ZIP archive — not the folder itself, so that index.html is at the top level of the ZIP.

03

Upload to Host HTML File

Upload the ZIP to Host HTML File and copy the generated link. Share the link with anyone who needs to review the page. No account is required on the recipient's end.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ChatGPT Sites available to everyone?

No. ChatGPT Sites is still in a limited beta and rolling out gradually. Access depends on your ChatGPT plan (typically Plus or Team), your region, and whether your workspace administrator has enabled the feature.

Which ChatGPT plan is needed for ChatGPT Sites?

Based on the current beta rollout, ChatGPT Sites appears to require a paid plan such as ChatGPT Plus, Team, or Enterprise. The Free plan does not include access at this stage. Check the OpenAI help centre for the latest plan requirements.

Is ChatGPT Sites available in my country?

ChatGPT Sites is not yet available in all regions. OpenAI is expanding access progressively. If the feature does not appear in your account, region restrictions may apply even if you have a qualifying plan.

Can my workspace admin block ChatGPT Sites?

Yes. In ChatGPT Team and Enterprise plans, workspace administrators control which features are available to members. If you are on a managed account and cannot access ChatGPT Sites, contact your admin to check whether the feature has been enabled.

Can I publish a ChatGPT-generated website without ChatGPT Sites?

Yes, if your website is a standard static site — HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and image files. Copy the generated code from ChatGPT, save the files, package them into a ZIP archive, and upload to Host HTML File to get a shareable browser link. Note that Host HTML File is for static files only and does not support dynamic application features, databases, or server-side code.

Does Host HTML File replace ChatGPT Sites?

No. Host HTML File publishes browser-ready static files as shareable preview links. ChatGPT Sites is designed for a broader hosted application experience that may include dynamic features, authentication, and integrated site management. Host HTML File is a practical option for sharing static website output while waiting for ChatGPT Sites access.

Already have website files?

Upload your static HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images to Host HTML File and get a shareable link now — no ChatGPT Sites access required.
